When you think of Laramie, Wyoming do you think of biking? I sure do! I may be slightly biased though because I feel that the bicycle is the best mode of transportation ever conceived. When I’m not riding my bicycle, I’m thinking about the next time I will get to ride, and when I am riding my bike, the rest of the world melts away, there’s nothing more perfect.
The best part about bikes is that there is no right or wrong time to ride one. Whether you’re commuting to and fro, racking up those miles on lengthy road rides or shredding single track with your buddies, there is no wrong way to do it! The best part is that here in Laramie there’s never an excuse not to ride! Why not forfeit that two minute car ride for a ten minute bike ride? Why not spend your Saturday (or Monday, or Thursday) afternoon riding at Curt Gowdy, Happy Jack or Vedauwoo? Why not call up your friends and take a ride up Roger’s Canyon? Why not turn back into that eight year old with nothing holding them back but their sense of adventure and the sunset? For me, being back on a bike means becoming that elementary aged kid with nothing stopping me but my legs giving out on me. It’s simply fun, simply freeing.
I would encourage anybody and everybody to ride their bike more, and if you don’t currently ride a bike, I encourage you to start! You have a hand-me-down from your folks dating back further than you can fathom? Awesome! You bought a bicycle that costs more than your car? Sweet! Do you own anything in-between that? Perfect! It doesn’t matter what you’re riding, where you ride it, how far you ride it, how hard you ride, at the end of the day there’s only one thing that I have to say: Ride Your Damn Bike!
